About Us

Icarus Productions is a Sydney based street theatre company that specialises in roving stilt walking acts. Formed in 1993 as Icarus Performance Troupe by a group of creative friends, Icarus is now run and owned solely by founding member and Creative Director, Paul Jones. Icarus has always created it's own works and continues to do so today, many of these have become iconic in the events and festivals world, such as the Roo'd Kangaroos and Beach Patrol Lifesavers. In recent years we have also entered into act sharing arrangements with Melbourne based Stilt Walkers Australia to bring to Sydney the Candy Canes and Jolly Giant acts (formally known as Fat Brothers) and with Melbourne/ Glasgow based Surreal McCoy for the Seagulls.

“I just wanted to say a huge THANKS again to you and Jesse for your great work as Bouncers at the Fringe Awards. It was fantastic to have you there, especially after your big weekend in Port Augusta! Added some great whimsy and fun silliness to the event. Awesome stuff.”

Melanie Burge – Adelaide Fringe

“thank you once again for making our parade such a great one”

Sue Porrett – Aerial Angels

“Icarus have guest-starred at a number of WOMADelaides, with ROO’d, Giant Leap, the Molotov Brothers, Bouncers and the Moooody Cows – in fact many of these creations have made their debut at the festival. We are always thrilled to have Icarus on board – they inject colour, humour and energy into the site, create a commotion wherever they go and are a delight to deal with.”

Annette Tripodi – Arts Projects

“Icarus always give our Glastonbury Festival audiences a great deal of fun, whether in their kangaroos role or as the stunning new lifeguards.” Arabella Churchill – Glastonbury Festival
